Acknowledgments
Writing this textbook has turned out to be a project with many facets. The actual writing -- challenging enough! -- is only one part of a larger enterprise that involves printing the book, testing it, receiving feedback, and then revising the material accordingly. Meanwhile, recruiting professors to test the book, marketing the book, and distributing it on time represent still other facets of the enterprise.
The development of Personality: A Systems Approach started as a small project I shared mostly with my own students, but later became a team effort.
In its early years, the book was little more than a (rather lengthy) xeroxed handout in my courses. Nancy Forsyth, then President of Pearson/Allyn & Bacon, first expressed interest in the book. When Carolyn Merrill of Pearson/Allyn & Bacon first signed the book, she suggested further developing the class notes in the form of an edition with Pearson Custom. That edition grew into two more. And so, over the years, I have worked both with Pearson Custom and with Pearson/Allyn & Bacon together in developing the work.
The Pearson Custom team was responsible for crucial aspects of the success of their three editions of the book. The Pearson/Allyn & Bacon team worked with me (and with Pearson Custom) to further develop the writing of the book. In 2006, the Allyn & Bacon team brought together resources in terms of copy editing, book design, and photo research, to the development of their own first edition of the book. Both teams worked with me and with one another to mutually enhance the book and its availability. All those involved deserve a lot of credit for the ultimate quality of the book...
Thanks to the Pearson Custom Team!

| Kim Brugger |
Kim Brugger and Rebecca Faber provided editorial supervision of the many materials associated with the 3rd Pearson test edition of the textbook. They helped to ensure the book, and its supporting materials, all made a smooth passage through the publication process at Pearson Custom Publishing. |

More recently, Scott Salesses has been doing a wondeful job of ensuring that word of the book spreads, and that those who are using the book have their requests and needs filled quickly and well. |

Thanks to my Colleagues and Students!
Thanks are also due to the instructors and students who have been pioneering this new course and approach to the field, along with me. Several instructors beside myself used the Pearson editions of the book. Looking back at the early editions, I am grateful for their confidence that the project was worthwhile, and I hope they will enjoy using the current editions.
Thanks for Help with the Web Site!

History and Purpose
This site was first on-line Tuesday, July 20th, 2004 for the purpose of communicating and supporting instructors about to begin use of the 3rd Pearson Custom edition of the book. Since that time, I have continued to develop, expand, and improve the site so as to support those using the newer versions of the textbook.
